The Florida Department of Children and Families (DCF)
The goal of the Florida Department of Children and Families is to protect the vulnerable, poor, low income and struggling households. DCF will also promote strong as well as economically self-sufficient individuals and families, including in partnership with the ACCESS Florida service. Florida Discount Drug Card
This is a discount card to help with medications. It provides eligible participants a discount on virtually all prescription drugs, insulin, and medications. Thousands of pharmacies in FL accept the Florida Discount Drug Card. Dial 866-341-8894 for additional information on the card.

Emergency Grants and Financial Assistance
Non-profits or the government
can provide a one-time cash grant payment to those families who face the loss of housing, electric, food or other basic needs. Some Florida programs will also help families who have had household disasters such as flood, hurricane, fire, or other accidents. Learn more on grants.

Florida KidCare
Florida KidCare is Florida’s low cost health insurance plan for children under age 19. It is the state’s version of CHIP. It provides care who are not insured or under insured. Call 888-540-5437

 

 

 

Florida Foreclosure Assistance and Mortgage Help
The Florida state government has programs that provide help with mortgage payments. Local town and county resources, non-profits, and the government have partnered together. Food Stamp Program
SNAP helps low-income Florida households to buy nutritious food, groceries, baby formula and other items.SNAP food stamps can help a household, or a group of people that live together. The assistance is for people that also buy food and prepare meals together. Call 1-866-762-2237

SUNCAP
The SUNCAP assistance program is a special Food Stamp Program that is for individuals who currently receive Supplemental Security Income (SSI). It is often offered in partnership with SNAP food stamps, and apply at the number above.

Temporary Cash Assistance (TCA)
The TCA program will provides cash assistance and grants to those families that have children under the age of 18 or under the age of 19 if they are full time secondary school students. The children must also meet the technical, asset, and income requirements. This financial aid program helps families become self-supporting while also allowing children to remain in their own homes. In addition, pregnant women may also receive TCA assistance in Florida, either in the 6th month of pregnancy if unable to work, or in the 9th month of pregnancy. It also helps single moms. Homeless Resources and Rescue Missions

Florida Lifeline Assistance Program
Receive free phone or cellular service from this government assistance program. The Lifeline program provides either a $13.50 credit per month on a phone land line bill or it will provide approximately 60 free cellphone minutes per month. Safelink offers this service in Florida. The Florida Low-Income Home Energy Assistance Program (LIHEAP) will provide grants to help low income families, seniors and the disabled pay their utility bills. It can also help households pay electric or AC bills during the hot months The funds are to assist eligible low-income households in meeting the costs of home heating and cooling bills. Weatherization Assistance Program
The goal of this government assistance program is to lower the monthly energy burden on lower income households. It works by improving the energy efficiency and utility bill savings of the home.
