The Salvation Army of Nye County is one of the leading agencies to turn to for help. They offer individuals and families access to several different resources, programsand services, including those listed below. Senior and youth services - The elderly, and children, may also be able to receive help. Learn about day care and child care programs, ways to improve your education, and after school programs.

Emergency services and help for expenses in Nye County

While funding is limited for emergency help, and there are conditions and criteria that need to be met, the Nye County Health and Human Services is another organization that offers various emergency services to the unemployed, low income, elderly, and others who may be struggling with their bills and debts. The amount of aid and the number of programs will of course vary depending on the availability of grant funds. Services offered from the human services group may include the following:

  • Rent and housing expenses - Funds for paying rent, security deposits, and preventing home and apartment evictions.
  • Prescription medication and drugs - If you are sick and can’t afford to pay for prescription medication, the health and human services department may be able to offer money or medications for illnesses.
  • Assistance for food - Get access to food pantries, free groceries, and other aid. Find food banks in Nevada to call as well.
  • Child care - Learn about local child care programs and providers. Limited assistance may also be available to working parents.
  • Transportation and travel costs for medical appointments - For example, they may be able to provide bus fare, gasoline vouchers, or other forms of travel aid.
